The Price Of My Magazine
I have decided to price my monthly pop magazine at £3.50 a month, I have priced it at this as the audience are mainly younger which means they will not be able to afford it if it was any more expensive. However this does mean that I have had to ignore the amount people said they would be willing to pay for the magazine - on the survey on survey monkey - as what people said they would pay was too low and I wouldn't be able to actually afford to produce it selling it at that price. I am going to price it £1 cheaper for the first magazine, as it is the opening one, to encourage people to buy it.

Magazine audience and research data.
I have created a survey about pop music using the website Survey Monkey as research for my magazine, to get the survey out I posted the link ( https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/D5QDR85) to some social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter asking POP music fans to carry it out.
From doing this survey I found out that the majority of my audience are females aged around 13-16 who are students at school or college. I gave a list of POP artists and bands and i asked which one they preferred and the most people who took the survey liked the bands particularly 5 seconds of summer. I found out that most of my audience listen to music through MP3 downloads, this means that I should probably include a free music download in my magazine however most of my audience would rather have a free CD with their magazine rather than make up or a cute pen and notebook. I also found out that ....50% of the people who took my survey said that they sometimes read about music online so I should probably include a website so that I could include somewhere that my audience can read about music online.

We love pop is published by Egmont UK which is the UK branch of the company Egmont Group and is one of the largest publishing companies in the UK, they are a company who want to encourage more children to read. Their audience is children and teens of all ages, Egmont UK publish over 1 million books and magazines a month which are available worldwide, not just in the UK. Some of the magazines they publish include 'We Love Pop, Toxic and Go Girl' which are aimed at young females. For the magazine We Love Pop they have also created a website so that people can access it online.
Ideology
We love pop, like most pop magazines are optimistically happy all the time, using bright colours and very cheerful pictures. In their articles and double spread pages they use a lot of different pictures rather than wording as its aimed at a more immature audience and it appeals more to this audience like this. Also because of their magazine audience they place a lot in the content that a younger audience would like for example fashion, younger artists and posters.
Audience for this magazine
We love pop is a monthly pop magazine aimed mainly at 13-16 year old females, its very bright as this will attract a young audience. Because its aimed at an younger audience the price cannot be too high as they may not be able to afford to buy it if its anymore however because its weekly they can make the price slightly higher, this means they have priced it moderately at £2.99.
Representation
The people on the front of the magazine are posing for the camera in a very fun loving, jokey, playful. This is done so they look visually attractive, this helps the magazine appeal to a younger audience as its deliberately portrayed to look full of energy and exciting.

Music Magazines Within My Genre
I have looked at the covers of, Top of the Pops, Mizz, Bliss and Billboard. All of the magazine covers have included the use of bright
colours, the use of bright colours helps it look appealing. They have stuck to a basic use of 2 colours in their colour sceme. They all look very busy with the conventions regularly overlapping. Many have used secondary images which are to do with the other feature stories included in the
magazine. All the magazine covers have bright mastheads that stand out well
from the backgrounds placed in large letters across the top. They have all done
the title for the main feature story in large letters to show that it’s the most
important, they all have pull quotes in the main feature story, all the main
feature stories also link to the main image which is always placed in the middle
of the magazine with the feature stories etc. surrounding them. All have a
bar code and price and a skyline is included in some but not all of the example magazine
covers, the mizz magazine skyline shows who the magazine is targeted at as it
says ‘girls mag’ in it.
Somewhere
on the contents page they all include the masthead from the front cover, it is usually small and placed in the top corner however the Top of the Pops magazine puts its masthead on the contents page by placing the magazine cover on it I think that this is a good idea because you can easily show which feature stories that were on the cover are on which page but i don't like it as i think that it makes it look quite rushed and badly presented. They all have photographs of what is going to be in some of the different features with page numbers of whats going to be in each.
In all of the double spread pages they show what the article is going to be about by putting a large picture of the artist/band that is being featured somewhere on the page. They place the story line for each particular article in bright, large letters so that it will be the first thing a reader will notice when first visiting this page. Most of the magazines have the name of the artist/band placed in the corner of the magazine. All double spread pages have secondary photographs as well as the main larger image.
My Music Magazine Genre.
For my music magazine I have chosen Pop as my music genre. Pop music is a term that originally derives from an abbreviation of "popular, it is a genre of popular music. It originated from in the 1950's, deriving from rock and roll. It is a genre of music that is aimed at the widest audience so this means pop sells the most copies, draws the largest concert audiences and is played most on the radio.
Some examples of existing pop artists are Rihanna, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber, One Direction and Rita Ora.
Although pop music is a wide variety of different music it is usually quite upbeat. Many pop artists look very fake in photographs, usually wearing alot of make up, they wear very bright and revealing clothing and usually pose rather seductively.Pop artists look optimistically happy all the time.
